Steve Murrells visits two of our Bradford academies

Co-op Academy Southfield and Co-op Academy Grange welcomed Steve Murrells, Chief Executive of the Co-op Group and Chris Tomlinson, Chief Executive Officer of Co-op Academies. The academies, who recently joined Co-op Academies Trust, are co-located on the same site in Bradford.

On the journey around the academies, Steve stopped to talk to colleagues and students who had questions and wanted the chance for a picture with him.

Steve discussed the ways that the Co-op, under his leadership, ensure all colleagues are empowered to be themselves always, no matter their race, sexuality, gender or other defining features. And how these same principles apply to our academies and help the communities that any Co-op is in.

The hot topics didn’t end there, there were questions about sustainable packaging and better recycling, making sure Co-op’s products are recyclable. And of course questions about why Co-op decided to take on academies.
