Intersport: Cross Country & Ten Pin Bowling!

This week we have held two intersport events for students across our schools to participate in it. Intersport is a programme we have been running across the Trust for a while now, encouraging students to take part in team and individual sports with other academies, building resilience, sportsmanship, and encouraging students from different academies to get to know each other.

The first event was the Secondary Cross Country run; it was last minute and made extra challenging for our students due to a last minute route change; this new route had extra challenging hills and descents to test our 102 runners on the day. The runners were made up of a total of 52 boys and 50 girls who came to take part from a number of schools across the Trust, we saw runners from Co-op Academy Failsworth, Co-op Academy Belle Vue, Co-op Academy Swinton, and Co-op Academy Manchester.

All runners did a brilliant job, as it was their first time competing and taking part in anything like this before. Former Co-op Academy Failsworth students now studying at Co-op Connell College did a fantastic job as our event marshalls.

Despite the challenging weather, everyone involved in making the day a success was genuinely magnificent, we couldn’t be more proud of the student leaders who took their role so seriously.

Next up, was the West Yorkshire Primaries, competing in their own Cross Country Event. Students from Co-op Academy Parkland, Penny Oaks, Beckfield and Princeville all showed incredible sportsmanship, resilience, and kindness to each other in their runs. Congratulations to all students and staff involved for such an incredible event.

Ten Pin Bowling

The second event was the SEND Ten Pin bowling with Pentathlon. Students from Co-op Academy New Islington, North Manchester, Manchester, and special guests Medlock Primary School, totalled 46 SEND students. A huge turn out from the Manchester Academies!

One student really won our hearts, she was apprehensive to attend and had been finding school hard recently, but this event really brought her out of her shell and she seemed to really enjoy herself!

Having sporting events like these has many endless positive impacts on everybody, especially our outstanding students.
