Co-op Academy Swinton is celebrating having achieved a 'Good' Ofsted rating!
The recent inspection, which took place in June, confirmed what students and staff at Co-op Academy Swinton already know - that the school is a fantastic place for learning and development.
The school has worked hard since its last inspection and has committed to improving both behaviour and learning, setting high standards for academic achievement and conduct.
The school environment is described as "calm and orderly" in both classrooms and around the school grounds.
The report noted: "Students value the high standards that the school expects of their academic achievement and conduct,” with pupils telling inspectors “that the school’s approach to improving positive behaviour helps everyone to learn well.”
This supportive atmosphere contributes to the overall happiness and well-being of the students, as indicated by the report, which stated: "Pupils are happy in school."
The report also praised teaching staff, saying: “The school has set out the important knowledge that pupils should learn and when this content should be taught. Teachers are suitably equipped to deliver the curriculum well.''
The robust and well-thought-out curriculum ensures all students, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), achieve well across various subjects. The report highlights that "pupils, including those with SEND, follow a broad and ambitious curriculum" and that "staff make suitable adjustments to help pupils to learn well."
The report also highlights many other areas where the 11-16 secondary academy is succeeding, praising the extra-curricular activities and enrichment experiences students benefit from.
