Co-op Academy Brierley students move into their brand-new school
Students at Co-op Academy Brierley have officially moved into their new, purpose-built facility on Cross Green Lane.
The two-storey, 4294m² state-of-the-art school has been specially designed to support students with additional needs and features a range of specialised spaces tailored to enhance learning and well-being.
The school’s thoughtful design includes three sensory rooms, a sensory integration room, an immersive space and a rebound room, as well as dedicated life skills areas, a food tech room, a primary kitchen, and flexible spaces for art, music, science, and design technology.
Headteacher, Sarah Harridge, said: "Monday marked an inspiring new chapter for Co-op Academy Brierley as we moved into our purpose-built facility on Cross Green Lane.
“Our school is more than just a building; it’s a thoughtfully designed space to support the unique learning needs of our pupils. Every feature, from specialised classrooms to sensory-friendly areas, reflects our commitment to providing an environment where all students can thrive.
“As we embrace our new surroundings, we are dedicated to empowering our students to grow with confidence, creativity, and independence. Our new school will allow us to offer tailored resources and learning spaces that support each child’s individual journey.”
Dr. Chris Tomlinson, CEO of Co-op Academies Trust, added, “We are delighted that Co-op Academy Brierley’s state-of-the-art new facility is now open. This incredible space will support our mission to foster ambitious and aspirational futures for every student and will allow us to support them to develop the knowledge and skills they need to help them thrive."
