Co-op Academy New Islington praised following recent Ofsted

Ofsted has recognised Co-op Academy New Islington as ‘Good’ in all areas.
Following the two-day inspection last month - which was the first in 10 years’ - Ofsted praised New Islington for its vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, where pupils thrive on learning.
The report highlighted how pupils take immense pride in their school, benefiting from strong relationships with staff and feeling well-supported in all aspects of their education.
Ofsted noted that the school allows pupils to thrive both academically and personally, describing pupils as “enthusiastic learners” who “enjoy their time in school”.
The report read: “Around school, pupils are confident. They are celebrated as individuals who are free to express their unique personalities. The atmosphere is one of happiness, inclusivity and vibrancy.
“Pupils are polite and considerate of others. They are respectful of each other’s opinions and beliefs.”
Behaviour was also celebrated within the report noting: “Staff have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour. Pupils know and follow the school rules, conducting themselves maturely and sensibly.”
Co-op Academy New Islington, which joined the Trust in 2022, was also praised for offering a “clear and ambitious curriculum” which ensures pupils develop a secure body of knowledge. Teaching staff were praised for actively checking pupils’ understanding and adapting lessons to meet their needs.
Beyond the classroom, the report noted the “broad range of opportunities to enhance personal development” to help pupils “have high aspirations for their future.”
The school’s dedication to meeting the needs of pupils with SEND was also reported, acknowledging that the school ensures pupils receive compassionate and purposeful support.
