Best ever exam results at Co-op Academy Manchester!

We were proud to welcome back our class of 2022 as they collected their exam results on Thursday 25 August.

We were proud to welcome back our class of 2022 as they collected their exam results on Thursday 25 August. These students are the first year to take the full set of exams after the COVID pandemic, and worked extremely hard to overcome the hurdles put in their way by lockdowns and disruption during their Key Stage 4 years.

The overall results for the whole year group were our best ever – improving on our 2019 results when exams last took place.

Our students have achieved the grades they need to unlock the next steps in their journeys. Many students are moving on to college courses such as A Levels, whilst others are planning on taking up apprenticeships.

Facts & figures:

  • 66% of our students achieved a Grade 4 and above in English and Maths with 42% achieving a Grade 5 and above.
  • Across the board, 76% of students achieved a Grade 4 and above in their GCSE results.
  • We have also seen a record-breaking 124 Grade 9’s and 46 Level 2 Distinction*

Here are just a few stories from our cohort.

Alessia is one of our students who achieved a stunning run of 9s – the highest grade. She’s planning to study science A Levels at a prestigious Sixth Form College and aiming for a university degree in Computational Neuroscience.
Shannon, like many students, found the exams nerve-wracking, but she got the results she needed and she’s excited to go to college to study Health and Social Care.
Taylor’s next steps are in a Public Services and Policing course. He said, “The teachers really genuinely care here, they put in time outside of school”.
Jeissimaura joined the academy only one year ago as an international new arrival, and she had to study English on top of learning how to do exams in the British system. She has achieved a massive amount in a very small amount of time.

“It’s amazing to see our school go from strength to strength as we celebrate our best ever results. I’m so proud of our students for overcoming the challenges of the last few years and I want to say to them that they really deserve their amazing grades. A massive well done to all our students and also, a big thank you to their parents, carers and families for all the support they’ve given. We look forward to hearing how they get on in their next steps.”
