IT and education are an ever-changing landscape and over the past two years, our reliance on technology has grown tremendously.
In the educational challenges presented by Covid, Information Technology was instrumental. We were able to quickly provision a vast amount of classes in Google Classroom and with the help of Co-op and the Department of Education, we provided Chromebooks to our students. This ensured teaching and learning didn’t stop.
Providing reliable and accessible technology to our students is vital for their future.

So what’s the plan?
We are building a resilient, innovative solution that is fit for purpose across all our academies and the Trust.
Our infrastructure is cloud-first, allowing us the collaborative and always available advantages of this technology.
We’re moving away from variations of support to a Trust-wide team that will support our colleagues and plan for the future. To make this happen, we’re expanding our IT team with existing colleagues as well as appointing many new positions.
The team
Our IT team is led by Jim Fessey. He joined as our Head of IT in 2021 after working at other IT organisations within the education sector for 22 years.
Centrally we’ll have colleagues who’ll form solutions and operations teams and provide remote support to all our colleagues.
Our three distinct Hubs – Greater Manchester, Staffordshire and Merseyside, and West Yorkshire will each have a Hub IT Manager. They’ll look after the mobile IT colleagues as well as the on-site IT colleagues within our academies.
Together these colleagues will underpin, support and plan our future IT.
