Co-op Academy Grange achieve the International School Award

Co-op Academy Grange is being recognised for its commitment to embedding international awareness in the classroom!

The well-regarded International School Award is available in 16 countries and is recognised by ministries of education globally. The British Council encourages this by supporting schools to complete collaborative, curriculum-based work with partner schools internationally.

Co-op Academy Grange have achieved the Foundation Level, the very beginning of their international education journey, with a goal to reach Intermediate Level by September 2025.

Having started this working in 2023, the school is helping to increase students’ knowledge and awareness of other countries and cultures. Grange are removing barriers and helping students to become confident in communicating with those from different backgrounds, as well as building their foreign language skills.

Co-op Academy Grange were partnered with Le Collège Madame de Sévigné in Roubaix, and after meeting with one of the french teachers, a number of projects took off:

  1. Cultural Project

Aim: Help Year 10-11 students get to know one another and learn what school is like for a French and English student. The project helped students understand the differences between the two cultures.

2. Cultural Quiz

Aim: Develop an understanding of how life and institutions are different in both counterpart countries and understand the cultural differences in relation to celebrations, daily life and more.

3. Virtual AI Tours

Aim: Discover both cities using AI tools as a great way to learn more until a future in-person meeting.

The academy is currently in the process of applying for the Lefèvre Grant Funding with a hope to facilitate a student exchange with the partner school in the future.
