Today is the 75th anniversary of VE Day, it marks the end of fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe during World War Two.
Because of coronavirus, this year people all over the country will be celebrating in their own homes.
Our academies are still open for vulnerable and key worker children, so this week they celebrated VE Day in their own special ways.
Some of our academies have Cadet units, who were planning on celebrating the day together. Instead our key worker colleagues have made the most of the situation and marked it on their behalf.
Mr Green and Mr Alden at Co-op Academy Walkden were joined by student Nakita, who wore her cadet uniform at home for the special occasion.
Earlier this week children at Co-op Academy Brownhill in Leeds wrote cards to local care home residents

And academies across the trust made bunting, flags and of course, cakes.

The children of our key workers have has a unique experience today celebrating VE Day. They made their own banners, cakes, bunting and flags. Then had a “street” party for their lunch. #dowhatmattersmost #VEDay75 pic.twitter.com/MkLLAySeg8

Whilst it wasn’t the VE Day we thought it would be, we hope everyone had a great day and stayed safe.
