Connell Co-op College student, Josh, on his way to study Paramedic Science

Year 13 student, Josh Evans, gets accepted to a highly competitive BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science course at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). With over 6,500 applicants, Josh is one of the 50 to make it onto the course.

Josh studied BTEC Sport & Exercise Science at Connell Co-op College. A dedicated and hardworking student, who knew from an early age what he wanted to do.

Speaking on the news, Josh said:

“At first I doubted myself, thinking I’d be at a disadvantage, as other applicants were older and some already had degrees. I thought being the youngest in my interview group would count against me.

“After completing assessments, only 6 of the 12 were offered an interview. It was a very nerve racking experience and I was the last to be interviewed.

“After a 16 week wait, I was overwhelmed to get the ‘yes’. To know how high in demand the course was, with only 50 places out of thousands of applicants. It’s the greatest achievement of my life and it’s amazing to know the hard work paid off.”

Sharon Jones, Destinations Manager at Connell Co-op College, said:

“Josh is an amazing student. He was absolutely dedicated from the start of his course and determined to succeed. Josh showed great resilience and prepared thoroughly for his interview day.

He knew exactly what was needed and that’s what led to his success. Josh is a role model for other students who are applying to places and preparing for interviews.”

Congratulations Josh and good luck from us all at Co-op Academies Trust!
