Glebe Achieve World Class Status

Over the last few months, pupils at Co-op Academy Glebe worked incredibly hard gathering evidence to prove they are World Class students. World Class Schools Quality Mark is awarded to non-selective state schools that offer the best education in the UK. They judge students against a framework of skills and competencies they feel young people need to flourish in an emerging global economy. There will only ever be 3-5% of schools in the UK who have achieved ‘World Class Status’.

The pupils were required to populate the World Class Schools APP with evidence and an explanation related to the three categories, I feelI am and I learn. WCSQM stated that it was a privilege to see their take on the world of education and their lives outside of the academy. A wide range of talents were showcased by the pupils, who, as always, took the challenge placed before them with rigour and excitement.

As a World Class School, Co-op Academy Glebe pupils, past and present, now have the right to identify themselves as World Class, and promote this status professionally, once they are 16+. This elevates the pupils to a small and prestigious group of children across the country, a truly unique achievement for the Fenton community, and Stoke-on-Trent as a whole.

Tristan Warrilow, Director of Achievement at Co-op Academy Glebe said: “Completing the World Class accreditation process has enabled me to critically reflect on the fantastic opportunities that Co-op Academy Glebe provides for our students.  During the time spent working with both our inspiring pupils, and with the support of our wider community, I have been granted the privilege of seeing into their lives beyond their academic achievements.”

Miranda Perry, Director, WCSQM said: “At WCSQM we wholeheartedly believe it is the students that make a school, and a school that prioritises the development of World Class characteristics in its students will always be World Class. The skills and competencies these students have demonstrated will help them excel in any environment, and make them ideal candidates for whichever further education / career pathway they choose to take. These are the World Class citizens of the next generation, and we’re incredibly proud to award them for their achievements so far.”
