Trust leaders learn to Teach Like a Champion

Educators from across Co-op Academies Trust came together for an inspiring two-day Teach Like a Champion conference this week.

More than 150 staff members took part in the events at Co-op Academy North Manchester led by expert facilitators from the Teach Like a Champion team, including Erica Woolway and Jack Vuylsteke.

The event provided invaluable professional development to explore proven classroom processes, systems and routines that drive student engagement and fuel academic growth.

Across both days, attendees participated in engaging workshops, discussions and practical exercises to refine their skills and shared best practices to bring back to their schools to further enhance teaching practices across the Trust.

Nick Lowry, Regional Director, said: “The Teach Like a Champion Conference was a fantastic opportunity for over 150 colleagues across Co-op Academies Trust to come together, learn and refine their teaching practice.

"Attendees benefitted from expert facilitation from Erica Woolway and Jack Vulysteke who are the Teach Like a Champion leads from the USA.  In the training we explored key techniques such as Lesson Preparation, Cold Call, and Wait Time—strategies that will have a direct impact on student engagement and success.”

"The sessions were insightful, practical and collaborative, with staff eager to take these ideas back to their classrooms. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to two inspiring days of professional development!”
Jack Vuylsteke, said: It was truly an honor to be able to present to the outstanding educators at Co-op Academies Trust.

“It was clear that participants were incredibly engaged and deeply considered ways that our content may be able to support them in impacting their students.  I was particularly struck at the quality of action steps that workshop participants were writing throughout, a true testament to the organisation's willingness to learn new practices and try them out immediately.

“We hope we were able to provide the trust with content that helps them on their journey to excellence.”

Erica Woolway, said: “We were honored and delighted to get to work with the teachers and leaders of Co-op Academies Trust for two days of incredible learning together. Their insights were top-notch and we have so many takeaways from our work together. We hope to be able to come back and visit their schools in action soon.”
